The Waterfront Precinct will feature a hotel, restaurants, residential apartments, riverside park and potential marina. By developing the Waterfront Precinct, the connection from the cultural and civic heart of Devonport to the Mersey River and Bass Strait will be realised, opening the City up to the waterfront - a long-held community desire.
Concept plans for the Precinct were released for community consultation between December 2016 and February 2017 and reflect the area bounded by Rooke Street, Best Street, Mussel Rock and the Mersey River.
In October 2017 Fairbrother, a local development company, was selected as the Preferred Proponent of the $40 million waterfront hotel. Under the terms of the agreement Fairbrother will be responsible to develop, finance and construct the hotel and to appoint the operator.
It is expected to take about two years to construct, with site works anticipated to begin in 2019.
Council intends to progress development of the public open space element of the Waterfront Precinct by applying for suitable grant opportunities, as they arise.

In February 2019 the Devonport City Council conducted a Community Survey which included two questions relating to the LIVING CITY Masterplan and to the Waterfront Park. The responses can be found here(PDF, 924KB).
