Council Plans & Strategies

Council has a number of plans that explain how decisions are made and how services are provided to the community. These plans are created with input from local people and guide how Council works.

Before plans are approved, Council usually asks for feedback. Residents and ratepayers are encouraged to share their views on plans that are open for public comment.

The Strategic Plan 2009-2030  outlines Council’s long‑term vision for Devonport to become a friendly, thriving regional city that respects its river and coastal environment.

The plan was developed with Council, the community and key stakeholders. It was last updated after the Local Government elections in October 2022.

The next review will start after the Local Government elections in October 2026.
