Australia`s Alert System – National Test

Australia is preparing to launch AusAlert, a new national emergency warning system designed to deliver fast, targeted alerts directly to mobile devices during critical events. AusAlert will send location‑based warnings about emergencies such as bushfires, floods, public safety threats, biosecurity incidents, and major health events.

From October 2026, authorised emergency services and government agencies will be able to issue alerts that reach all compatible devices in a defined area, even if networks are congested or the phone has no active SIM. Messages will clearly outline what the emergency is, where it’s happening, how serious it is, and what action to take.

Community testing begins in June 2026 across selected towns, followed by a national test on Monday 27 July 2026.
