The Federal Government’s funding contribution will secure a contemporary convention and conference centre within the new multipurpose civic building.
Independent analysis has confirmed that this aspect of LIVING CITY is a critical element in the success of LIVING CITY and has the potential to provide huge economic benefit to the region.
The new convention centre will be a state of the art facility to attract events in a rapidly growing business and pleasure event market.
It will provide for flexible seating configurations to enable a 800-900 seat theatre layout or 500 seat round table dinner format, to enable the centre to cater for a wide range of events, including trade shows, seminars and conferences, meetings, celebrations, award nights, arts and entertainment events.
Located on the 3rd floor of the new multi-purpose building, the conference facility will benefit from magnificent views along the Mersey River and across the City.
Co-locating the convention centre next to the food market will create advantages in terms of opportunities and efficiencies through shared marketing/advertising and joint event collaboration.
The centre will complement the existing Devonport Entertainment Centre that currently misses opportunities due to its compact size.
The convention centre will be a catalyst for attracting private capital for a hotel development in the adjacent Stage Three waterfront precinct.
