Recent job growth figures published by the Department of Employment forecast strong jobs growth in the accommodation and food services, retail and construction sectors for Tasmania’s North West in the next five years.

The figures indicate an additional 1500 jobs will be created, including 600 in the accommodation and food services sectors, 300 retail jobs and 300 in construction, for the five year period to November 2020.

One of the key drivers for the LIVING CITY project is the creation of new employment opportunities in these sectors, with over 100 workers currently on-site as part of the LIVING CITY Stage 1 construction phase and forecast to increase to 200 in the coming months, when all trades will be on-site.
