Spreyton Connector Pathway
Strenghtening Community Connections
The Spreyton Connector is a 2.6 km sealed pathway between Horsehead Creek and Maidstone Park tracing the banks of the Mersey River.
Suitable for walking, running, riding, scooting, pushing a pram and walking the dog; the pathway offers easy grades making it suitable for those with mobility and access requirements.
Each stop (orange markers on the adjacent map), shares:
- A story about the history and heritage of the area.
- Historical images.
- Map with exact location.
- Exercises connecting to the story content.
- Distance to the next stop.
- A QR Code for those who require accessibility features such as narrated text, visual aids or further reading.
Building the Pathway
The Spreyton Connector is a key part of Council’s plan to improve connectivity and promote active transport in our community. This vital link between Spreyton and Devonport City Centre extends the existing network into a growing residential and commercial area.
Previous stages have already connected Quoiba and Spreyton’s town centre, setting the stage for this major connection.
As part of this effort, the Spreyton Signage Project has transformed the pathway into a more engaging and accessible space. With storytelling elements, wayfinding signs, and exercise stations, it encourages physical activity and strengthens community connections.
The pathway also integrates seamlessly with the Devonport Regional Pathway Network and the Cradle Coast Shared Pathway Network, making it a valuable asset for both locals and visitors.
In recognition of the importance of active transport infrastructure, the Tasmanian Government established The Better Active Transport Grant Program, of which Devonport City Council; was a recipient for The Spreyton Connector.
